For chasing river smallies on the Mackinaw and Vermilion Rivers, nothing beats a kayak. A kayak allows you to cover a lot of water quickly, and lets you get into all the nooks and crannies where the fish are hiding. And besides all that, it’s just plain fun! I have a fleet of five kayaks, four of which are available for use by clients, and one dedicated guide kayak. I have a custom built kayak trailer that allows me to transport all of these kayaks at once, so I can accommodate groups of up to four anglers.

For targeting muskies, I have a 2023, 18 foot, Lowe, Fishing Machine. I have added two Garmin, Echomap Plus, fish finders to help locate all the best spots. I also added a 9.9 HP kicker motor to be in compliance with all local horsepower restrictions. For safety reasons, I can only accommodate two clients at a time while musky fishing.
All safety equipment and fishing gear will be provided by me. You are more than welcome to bring your own rods and reels, or your favorite baits.
The equipment that I recommend you bring includes:
-Illinois fishing license
-polarized sunglasses
-lunch, snacks, and drinks
-hard soled shoes (preferably water shoes) for kayak trips. We will be portaging over lots of rock and gravel bars.
-rain gear
-a wide brimmed hat to protect against the sun
-sunscreen
